1 killed in pedestrian-vehicle wreck on U.S. 521 in Sumter

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal wreck involving a pedestrian that occurred along U.S. 521 on Friday morning, May 10.
Michael Young, 34, of Sumter, was pronounced dead on the scene, according to Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker. 
The wreck occurred about 5:22 a.m. The driver of a 2015 Dodge Charger was traveling north and Young was walking east when he was struck by the vehicle, said Master Trooper William Bennett. The driver of the Charger was not injured. 
Young's next of kin has been notified, and an autopsy has been scheduled for Saturday morning at the Medical University of South Carolina.
