Poker Run to benefit burned-out family
The Jimmy Ford Memorial Benefit/Poker Run and Ride will be held Saturday. Participants will meet at Jimmy’s, 3201 Broad St., to begin the run from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
The scenic ride through Sumter, Lee and Kershaw counties begins at Jimmy’s with stops at Ashwood Grocery, Jack’s, the Time Off, Raven’s Nest and back to Jimmy’s. There will be live music, food and prizes after the run.
Ford was a longtime bartender who lost his life in a Sept. 19 fire at the home of his mother, Shirley Ford. The home and all its contents were destroyed.
A donation of $10 per participant is requested for the poker run, and all funds collected will be used to help the family rebuild.
