'69 special year for Edmunds

Following the 1968 high school football season, Steve Satterfield was not a happy man. His Edmunds High Gamecocks had just completed a 3-7-1 season. He obviously wasn’t happy with the season Edmunds had, and he wasn’t enjoying the coaching aspect either.
It took an extended stay in the mountains of North Carolina to give Satterfield a clear vision of what he wanted.
“I took the spring off (from teaching) and went to Appalachian State (in Boone, N.C.) to work on my Master’s degree,” Satterfield said. “While I was doing that, I was looking at what I was doing football coaching-wise. I was crying out to the Lord to help me a little bit.”
