Article published: Mar 6, 2009 Outdoor Center offering tour of Sparkleberry Swamp
Palmetto Trail's High Hills Outdoor Center at Battens Store in Wedgefield is offering a paddling tour of Sparkleberry Swamp on Saturday. Meet at the center at 10 a.m. and bring a watercraft, or rent a canoe for $45 or a kayak for $35 at the center. Steve Collum, the Palmetto Conservation Foundation's map-maker and an outdoor enthusiast, will be the guide. The trip is rated easy to moderate and is about 4 miles round trip. From the center, located on S.C. 261, participants will travel by caravan to the Sparkleberry Boat Landing off Camp Mac Boykin Road. Reservations are required.
