Pennsylvania man dies in I-95 wreck
MANNING — A Pennsylvania man is dead, and his wife is in stable condition after the two were in a one-vehicle wreck at the 116 mile marker on Interstate 95 near Manning.
Alfred F. Wilmouth Jr., 79, of 13418 Shannondale Drive in Audubon, Penn., died at about 1:12 p.m. Thursday after losing control of his vehicle and running into the median while traveling south on the interstate, according to Clarendon County Deputy Coroner Charles Jackson.
"The vehicle went off the road on the left side and then he overcorrected to the right and began to roll," he said.
Wilmouth, who was not wearing a seatbelt, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said, was thrown from the vehicle and found lying about 13 feet away from the wreck. His wife, Donna, was taken to Clarendon Memorial Hospital and later transferred to Palmetto Health Richland with chest trauma. She is in stable condition.
Jackson said his office did not know what caused Wilmouth to lose control of the vehicle.
