Ex-Lafourche councilman dead at 46

Civic and education leaders in Lafourche Parish are mourning the death of Royce Doucet of Galliano.

The former Lafourche Parish councilman was approaching his 10th anniversary as transportation manager for Lafourche public schools. He also was well known for his fundraising work with the Sons of the American Legion.

Doucet died last week at age 46 after years of battling cancer. A funeral Mass was set for Wednesday.
