NC-based Marine from NY killed in Afghanistan

Military officials say a North Carolina-based Marine from New York has been killed in Afghanistan.

The Department of Defense said Thursday that 22-year-old Lance Cpl. Blaise A. Oleski of Holland Patent, N.Y., died Wednesday during combat operations in Helmand province.

Oleski was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune.

A statement from the base provided no further details.
