A Dalzell home sustained $180,000 in damage to its structure and contents following a Thursday morning fire, a report said.
The Sumter Fire Department received an alarm at 9:19 a.m. and arrived at 3001 Queen Chapel Road, to find a two-story, 2,000 square-foot home with heavy smoke conditions.
Eleven firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control at 9:56 a.m., but not before the fire caused $120,000 in damage to the structure and $60,000 in damage to the contents.
The report shows the SFD saved an estimated $30,000 in value to the structure and contents valued at $10,000. Capt. Brian Horton said the fire started in the kitchen wall and was most likely electrical in nature.
