Man attempts to arrest himself
A 50-year-old Sumter man wanted to make a citizens arrest on himself for possession of a crack pipe, a report said, but he ended up getting arrested by the Sumter Police Department.
Sammie Dinkins, of 115 E. Moore St., was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia about 4:03 p.m. Friday after officers at the Law Enforcement Center, 107 E. Hampton Ave., responded to a report of a suspicious person at the LEC. Dinkins told police he had a glass crack pipe in his bag and wanted to arrest himself.
The Sumter Police Department arrested him instead and transported him to Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center after confiscating his pipe.
