Lee Co. man indicted in domestic slaying

A Smiths Station man turned himself in after a grand jury returned a murder indictment against him.

57-year-old Mike Britton is charged in the Oct. 7, 2008 shooting death of 32-year-old Robert Brian Hurst. Investigator said the victim was shot in a domestic dispute at a trailer on Lee Road 292.

Britton posted a $50,000 bond and was released from custody Monday.

Lee County Sheriff's Capt. Van Jackson said Britton is scheduled to make an initial court appearance Friday.
