New Zion man dies after being struck by van
NEW ZION -- A 74-year-old New Zion man was killed after he was struck by a van on S.C. 527 early Sunday, authorities said.
Herman Wilson, of 1093 Subdivision Road, was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:12 a.m. Clarendon County Coroner Hayes Samuels said Sunday evening.
Wilson walked onto S.C. 527 in front of a 2002 Toyota van driven by Cheryl Moore, 39, of Georgetown, while the van was traveling eastbound near Epps Road, said Sgt. Kelley Hughes of the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Moore was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured. Wilson was wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans when he was hit, Hughes said.
The Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash. No charges have been filed.
