Large amount of drugs, cash seized in Rembert
The Sumter County Sheriff's Office announced today that a major drug operation in the Rembert area was recently broken up.
In the early morning hours of May 21, member of the Sumter City-County Drug Team, State Law Enforcement Division, Clarendon County Sheriff's Office, and state Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services executed three search warrants in the area: 2275 Blue Jay Lane, 7265 Coon Ridge Road and 5535 Dinkins Mill Road.
In all, about 4 pounds of marijuana, 1.1 kilograms of cocaine, 74.8 grams of crack cocaine and 98 Ecstasy pills, with a total street value of $31,360, were seized. Counterfeit goods, vehicles and a handgun also were seized during the investigation.
The arrests of 12 people concluded a six-month investigation targeting crack cocaine and cocaine dealers in the Rembert area, the sheriff's office said.
