A 33-year-old Gable man who was subdued with a Taser and arrested Wednesday morning after deputies said he fled a traffic stop also faces numerous drug charges.
Herbenza Lee Wilson, of 2933 Farmington Road, was charged with violation of the seat belt law; driving under suspension, second offense; possession of drug paraphernalia; resisting arrest; possession with intent to distribute crack, sixth offense; and possession of marijuana, sixth offense, after Sumter County deputies pulled him over on S.C. 53 near Fullard Drive for not wearing a seat belt, according to a police report.
Deputies said Wilson ran from his 1998 Cadillac, which ended up in a ditch, and into some woods, tossing a yellow sandwich box and his white T-shirt along the way. When a deputy caught up to him, the report said, Wilson was lying on his hands and refused to obey orders, so a Taser was used to get him to comply. The yellow box contained 9.4 grams of crack, 9.4 grams of cocaine and 9.9 grams of marijuana, the report said. Deputies also confiscated $503 in cash.
