Man robbed by men offering ride

A 29-year-old Olanta man was robbed of $20 by two men who offered to give him a ride home, then demanded all his money, a report said.

About 3:30 a.m. Saturday, the Olanta man was walking along the 3800 block of Myrtle Beach Highway when a silver Lincoln — possibly a Continental — with two men inside pulled over and asked him if he needed a ride.

The man said he’d pay $20 for a ride to Olanta, and the men said they were heading to Turbeville.

After going only a short distance, the driver pulled over and demanded all the man’s money and threatened to shoot him if he did not comply.

After searching the man’s wallet and finding only $20, they drove off.

The man walked to a business and asked them to call 911 and was given a ride to Clarendon County by a sheriff’s deputy.
