Lee County Council meets today
BISHOPVILLE – The Lee County Council will hold a public hearing at 9 a.m. today in the main court room of the Lee County Courthouse. Residents will have an opportunity to make comments and ask questions concerning several issues before council including next years county and school budgets and a proposed hospitality tax.
Following the public hearing, council is also expected to give final approval to an amendment of its purchase agreement with Carolina Metal Finishing Company that would extend an option for the industry to buy the building located behind the old National Guard Armory. Carolina Metal bought the National Guard Armory from the city of Bishopville and Lee County a couple of years ago and had an option to buy the building behind the armory. The option ends in November, and the company is asking for an extension of one year until November 2010, officials said.
The Lee County Council meets at 9 a.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at the Lee County Courthouse.
