Troopers say a 15-year-old Hillsboro boy has been killed after he was struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle with two friends.
A 15-year-old Hillsboro boy died Thursday afternoon after a vehicle struck him while he was riding his bike with two friends on a Lawrence County road.
Lawrence County Coroner Micah Coffey said he pronounced Eugene "D.J." Milligan dead at the scene at 2:53 p.m.
Coffee said the boy was not wearing a helmet and it appeared he died from blunt force trauma and head injuries.
Troopers said the driver of the SUV, 20-year-old Zedrick McGuire, was not injured in the collision a mile north of Hillsboro.
Authorities said the incident is still under investigation.
