A 25-year-old woman was charged with financial transaction card theft on Monday by investigators from the Sumter Police Department’s Financial Crimes Unit, a release said.
Jessica Johnson, of 110 Carver St., was taken into custody following numerous reports of credit and debit card numbers being stolen and used to replenish minutes on pre-paid cell phones. Johnson was an employee at a local fast food restaurant, police said, which they did not name.
Police said citizens should keep close watch of their accounts to ensure no one has compromised their number for fraudulent use.
