2nd fire destroys Dalzell home
DALZELL — The second fire in a week at a Delaware Drive address destroyed the $50,000 double-wide mobile home, the Sumter Fire Department says.
However, firefighters were able to save $10,000 of the home's $25,000 in contents, the department's report said.
Firefighters from the city's Thomas Sumter station and the county's Cherryvale, Dalzell and Rembert stations arrived at 3485 Delaware Drive 10 minutes after the alarm at 5:35 p.m. Monday, the report said.
The fire had spread to the kitchen and laundry room, but firefighters forced their way into the kitchen to save some of the home's contents, the report said. It was unclear where the fire started, and the cause was undetermined, but it was the second fire the department had responded to in a week at that mobile home, the report said. There were no details on the first fire.
Firefighters were on the scene until almost 9 p.m.
