Darlington man killed in Lee County wreck
A 53-year-old Darlington County man was killed Tuesday night after a one-car wreck in the Spring Hill community of Lee County.
Clark Stuckey of Darlington was pronounced dead at the Kershaw County Medical Center about 11:20 p.m. Tuesday, said Lee County Coroner Alford Elmore.
Stuckey died of massive chest trauma, he said.
Stuckey was taken to the Camden hospital by Lee County Emergency Medical Services.
South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Scot Edgeworth said Stuckey was driving north on Spring Hill Road about 20 miles west of Bishopville when he lost control of a 2004 Nissan after passing another car about 9:50 p.m. Tuesday.
Stuckey apparently drove off the right side of the road and then overcorrected and went off the road again on the left side, striking the embankment and turning over several times.
He was not wearing a seatbelt, Edgeworth said. Stuckey did not have any passengers.
