No bond reduction for suspect in deputy shooting

The Associated Press

A judge has refused to lower the $2 million bond for an 18-year-old booked with attempted first-degree murder in last month's shooting of a Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's deputy.

The suspect is Adrian Broussard of the town of Bourg. District Judge Timothy Ellender denied a bond reduction on Tuesday.

Broussard was arrested July 29. He is accused of shooting 36-year-old deputy Donald Bourg (Burg) of Houma. The officer is recovering from bullet wounds to the left shoulder, buttocks and calf.

The deputy was investigating reports of a suspicious person outside the Montegut (MON teh gew) post office when he was shot.

Public defender Amanda Muftin says Broussard has a history of mental health problems and was taking medication for them.
