The Sumter County Sheriff's Office has added two men to its Most Wanted list. Officers say these men assaulted an 18-year-old man when he refused to read a "book of knowledge" from a gang.
Shadee Develle Brunson, 21, whose last known address was 743 Warley St.; and Lamar Azizz Wright, 19, whose last known address was 3475 Kelsam Drive, are each wanted on a second-degree lynching charge, the sheriff's office announced Tuesday.
According to an incident report, the 18-year-old man came to a home in the 2900 block of Shawside Drive in Dalzell about 2 p.m. Aug. 5. When he got there, he was given the book and told that he had 36 seconds. The victim looked at the book, gave it back and said "no thanks," the report says.
Then Brunson, Wright and a few others formed a circle around him. One of the men started trying to fight him, then Brunson, Wright and another man "all jumped in and they all punched and kicked (the victim) about his head, face and body area," according to the report.
Brunson is described as black, 6 feet, 200 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Wright is described as black, 5 feet 11 inches, 145 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Anyone seeing Brunson or Wright is advised to use caution.
Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office at (803) 437-2700 or Crime Stoppers at (803) 437-2718. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
