The public does not know what is going on in the Sumter Police Department
While I can appreciate Mr. Singleton's remarks about not being divisive, it's apparent that even though your son works for the police department he doesn't know what's really going on inside and neither does the public. Unfortunately, it's impossible to “all be of one accord” when you have someone in charge who likes to bully their fellow officers and threaten their jobs. This is NOT working together, it's brow beating people to work under you while they fear for their jobs at the least simple thing they may do such as speaking to someone or helping someone out at a school ball game. Yes, this happens and is happening. Meanwhile, let's not focus on the REAL problems at hand...crime. Crime doesn't just mean outside the police department either, nor underhandedness, deceit, unwillingness to co-operate out of plain jealousy and not liking the honest officers who try to do the right thing and get stopped.I agree with your overall statement, Mr. Singleton, but divisivness is inevitable...there's too much dishonesty and politics involved.I know because I, too, have been involved with the Sumter Police Department for over 20 years.
