Without good health and good health care, we have nothing
Health care, again. The status of our health tells us whether we are "holding our own" in the battle with DEATH. We know that this is a battle that we will lose, eventually, and we hope it won't happen anytime soon. I don't understand why people "for political reasons" are fighting our own interest when it comes to health care. People, your good health is the most important thing that we have. Without good health and health care we have nothing.
The difference between Republicans and Democrats is that one sees government as the problem and the other sees government as the answer. Which one do we want to bet on? I would admit that for the last eight years the government was the problem, but my question is, have we learned anything during the recent past? We know that we as taxpayers get nothing free or cheap, whether from local, state or federal government. As for me I expect fairness from our governments.
We need health care that doesn't depend on a job or an employer. I believe that Medicare Part E (for everyone) is a good start. We need to tell our senators Lindsey Graham and Jim DeMint to vote for a public option health care bill. I do understand that we have many bad habits that shorten our lives and destroy our health, but education and stopping the buying of sodas, fat back and lard will help a lot and is a good start.
There is one good thing about death and dying at an early age in that this is the only way that change comes to Sumter. I don't think that people should have to die for change to happen, but have you ever tried to change the mind of a forever Sumterite?
