A Lakewood High School teacher has resigned from Sumter School District 2 after the district and the Sumter County Sheriff's Office investigated a possible relationship between him and a student.
Edward A. Hubbard, a physical education and driver's education teacher for the district, resigned effective Wednesday, according to Superintendent Dr. J. Frank Baker.
Baker notified the sheriff's office after conducting his own investigation but could not release any details about what he did or did not find out.
"I can't say anything that might hinder or interfere with their investigation," he said Thursday night.
