Company advises McGee Town to boil water
Cassatt Water Co. issued a boil water order on Thursday for about 30 residents in the McGee Town community of Lee County.
Operations Manager Steve Hunter said a main water line ruptured early Thursday morning, causing a disruption of water services for about four hours.
The affected residents were informed Thursday to boil all tap water intended for drinking because of the possibility of contamination.
Two tests of the water were conducted to ensure the water is safe, Hunter said.
The first test came back with no problems, but the results of the second test will not come back until Monday.
The boil water order applies to all water used for drinking, making ice cubes, washing foods, brushing teeth, or any other activity involving consumption of water. Water should be brought to a full boil for at least three minutes.
Hunter expects the boil water order will be lifted on Monday.
