East Alabama town ends furloughs for city workers

The east Alabama town of Valley is ending a furlough program for city workers.

Mayor Arnold Leak began the furloughs in January because the city was having financial problems. The City Council voted unanimously Monday night to end the furloughs, effective Nov. 23. Council finance chairman Ray Edwards said the town's finances have improved and there is no longer a need for the furloughs.
