SUMMERTON -- A man involved in a controversial wreck that killed a pregnant teenager in August was beaten on Monday afternoon, police said.
Summerton Police Chief Ray Perdue said Tuesday that Charles "Fat Cat" Atkinson, 43, was transported to Clarendon Memorial Hospital after Robbie Wright, 51, attacked him with a baseball bat.
According to the incident report, police responded to a call at Wright's auto parts shop at 207 Main St. about 4:46 p.m. The officer noticed blood coming from Atkinson's arm, which was beginning to swell.
