BISHOPVILLE – A nonpartisan election to fill the position of mayor for the city of Bishopville, a vacancy created by the death last week of Mayor Tom Alexander, will take place on Feb. 2.
City Administrator Gregg McCutchen made the announcement Tuesday after consulting with officials from the South Carolina Election Commission. State law provides guidelines for holding municipal elections to fill vacancies, McCutchen said.
"I feel like we'll get some quality people step up as candidates," McCutchen said.
