12 Crestwood students presented Golden Apple

Greater Sumter Chamber of Commerce celebrated 12 Crestwood High School students Thursday with the presentation of the Golden Apple Award for their integrity and strong moral character. Each student received a certificate containing a proclamation from the city and county of Sumter, signed by Mayor Joe McElveen and Sumter County Council Chairman Jim McCain. The proclamation reads, "Whereas, students at Crestwood High School have demonstrated exceptional character; and whereas, students at Crestwood High School have shown pride, determination and honesty; and whereas the City and County of Sumter acknowledge these students for positively contributing to the community and society." Golden Apple Award recipients are: Ki 'Asia Benjamin, Brayden Cook, Aliyah Grady, Kyle Hawkins, Kaitlynn Horton, Jaha Jackson, Dalyn Leonard-Smith, Trevor Myers, Savannah Paugh, Arianna Rehby, Ramona Rush and Paul Sowers. A description of each student's character and why they were selected was read aloud during the event.
