An 18-year-old Sumter woman was arrested after she and her newborn child tested positive for marijuana.

Jasmine Gazley, who lives in Cherryvale, faces charges of unlawful neglect of a child in connection to warrant issued on Dec. 20, 2017, according to Ken Bell, public information officer for the Sumter County Sheriff's Office.

According to the warrant, Bell said, Gazley tested positive for the drug on Oct. 12, 2017 at Palmetto Health Tuomey and that her son did, too, upon birth.

Gazley reportedly admitted to smoking marijuana throughout her pregnancy, according to an incident report.

She was arrested on April 13 and posted a $10,000 bond on April 17.
