USC's offense improves as defense sputters in 34-28 win over UMass

COLUMBIA — While the big story coming out of Williams-Brice Stadium on Saturday was University of South Carolina freshman quarterback Jake Bentley making his first start and appearance, it was the Carolina defense almost surrendering a 20-point lead that was even more surprising.
