Elderly man found safe

Sam Lewis Jr., the 89-year-old man who was reported missing from his Mims Road home Thursday morning, was located conscious and alert Friday morning.
Lewis was located by deputies in a heavily wooded area near Radical Road about 8 a.m. Friday. After being guided out of the woods by deputies, he was transported by Sumter County Emergency Medical Services to Tuomey Regional Medical Center for evaluation and treatment for dehydration.
