Rosa Lee Haynesworth was born on July 8, 1932, in Sumter, to Julia Banks of Newport News, Virginia, and Lewis

Robinson of Jacksonville, Florida. She departed this life on Monday, Aug. 22, 2016, at Hospice of West Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

On Nov. 27, 1949, she married the Rev. David L. Haynesworth Sr. Mrs. Haynesworth was educated at St. Michael School in Sumter. She received extensive training in food nutrition at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, where she retired after 32 years of service. Mrs. Haynesworth gave her life to Christ at an early age at Wayman Chapel AME Church in Stateburg. She later moved with her family to Boston, where she joined Rush AME Zion Church in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Mrs. Haynesworth served faithfully as a deaconess for 32 years until her health failed.

She is survived by two sons, David Haynesworth Jr. (Ethel) and William Haynesworth (Libby).

Public viewing will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Job's Mortuary.

Mrs. Haynesworth will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. on Monday for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center, 101 S. Salem Ave., Sumter, with the Rev. Randy Coplin, pastor of Rush AME Zion Church, Cambridge, officiating. Interment will follow in Wayman Chapel cemetery.

The family will be receiving friends at 1200 Devonshire Drive, Sumter.

Job's Mortuary Inc., 312 S. Main St., Sumter, is in charge of arrangements.
