CHARLESTON (AP) — Authorities say they have found the remains of an 18-year-old man who disappeared while diving off Folly Beach.

The Charleston County Coroner's Office announced Thursday that DNA testing linked the remains to Tristen Allen. The office did not say where the remains were found or how the teen died.

Authorities say Allen was diving in about 60-foot deep water off Folly Beach with his father on July 12. After a 30-minute dive, the Coast Guard says Allen was trying to take off his weight belt when he slipped back under the water and disappeared below the surface.

Allen was planning on attending The Citadel this fall.
