Sumter County Emergency Management to resume normal hours

Calls from area residents needing immediate response to the recent flooding has decreased significantly. In response, the Sumter County Emergency Management offices will return to normal operations today.
Area residents will still be able to reach officials at Sumter County Emergency Management offices between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Sumter County citizens facing an emergency should call 911.
Emergency Management officials will resume 24-hour staffing at their offices should unforeseen events occur.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency will continue its Disaster Recovery Center at the Sumter County Civic Center, 700 W. Liberty St., from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week.
The center will be staffed by representatives from FEMA to assist area residents affected by the flood in applying for various financial assistance programs.
Residents can also begin the assistance process by registering online at DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling (800)621-FEMA (3362). Disaster assistance applicants who are deaf or hard of hearing should call (800) 462-7585 (TTY); those who use Video Relay Service may call (800) 621-3362. The toll-free telephone numbers will operate from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week until further notice.
