A Lexington County man is wanted after police say he duped a flood victim into paying upfront for repairs he did not plan to render.

Paul Andrew Cushman, 48, of 201 Duffie Drive in

Lexington, obtained money in excess of $2,000 from a Sumter resident whose home was damaged in this week’s flood.

The suspect obtained a check from the victim and stated he would return with a contract and paperwork the next day. The check was cashed within the hour and the man never returned. Cushman is not licensed for business by the City of Sumter nor Sumter County.

Cushman is wanted by the Sumter Police Department for obtaining goods under false pretenses in an amount greater than $2,000 but less than $10,000.

Residents in Sumter and elsewhere are advised to notify police if Cushman is seen, as he is wanted by multiple

jurisdictions and has an extensive criminal history involving fraud.
