Alabama man, 23, dies in Lee County wreck on Sunday

A 23-year-old Alabama man died during a wreck in Lee County on Sunday afternoon when his vehicle struck the back of a tractor trailer while traveling westbound on Interstate 20.

South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Davis Jones said the driver — identified by Fernando Rafael Vizcarra-Garciadarosa by Lee County Coroner — and the driver of the tractor trailer were both wearing seat belts.

Both vehicles were traveling westbound on the interstate when Vizcarra-Garciadarosa's 2015 Jeep ran into the back of the 2012 tractor trailer as the larger vehicle slowed down for traffic, according to Jones.

Vizcarra-Garciadarosa died at the scene, he said.

The wreck is still under investigation by SCHP.
