God saw the need to call Alice Louise "Rody" McKnight Woods from labor to rest on Monday, Aug. 6, 2018, at Regency Hospital in Florence, after a long illness.

Born on Aug. 5, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Johnson and Willie Mae Gilyard McKnight. Alice received her formal education from Mt. Pleasant High School in Elliott. She was employed by James and Bland for five years.

Alice leaves to cherish her precious memories: her loving and devoted husband of 42 years, Covell Woods of Bishopville; one son, Covell Christopher (Emma) McKnight of the home; two granddaughters, Deidra and Deja Croskey McKnight; two great-grandsons, Da'marion and De'kari Croskey Commander; one sister, Thelma Hodge of Mayesville; one brother, Charlie McKnight of St. Charles; five sisters-in-law, Shirley Woods and Annette (Wayne) Woods, both of Bishopville, Rosa Mae Woods of Philadelphia, Ruth McKnight of Columbia and Ruby Green of San Diego; two brothers-in-law, Levi (Mary) Woods of Sumter and Alexander Woods of Bishopville; two special nephews, Terry McKnight of Sumter and Dakota Woods of Bishopville; and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, James, Irvin, George Thomas, Johnson Jr. and Calvin McKnight; and three sisters, Rutha Mae Rowell, Carolyn and Rhunette McKnight Woods.

Public viewing will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. today at Job's Mortuary.

Mrs. Woods will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. on Friday for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, 126 E. Sumter St., Mayesville, SC 29104 with Pastor Eugene Myers officiating. Interment will follow at Mayesville Community Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the home her sister, 300 Wilson St., Mayesville.

Job's Mortuary Inc., 312 S. Main St., Sumter, is in charge of arrangements.
