Born on Dec. 11, 1932, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Joe and Nora Conyers Evans. Affectionately known as "Sister," Anna attended Congruity School in Gable and later Morris College to enhance her education. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Fair Heaven Baptist Church, Manning. She later attended Faith Enterprise Church and, after its closing, she worshiped at St. James Holiness Church. Anna was well-known in the community and enjoyed coaching softball and baseball on community teams. She was formerly employed with Wateree Community Transportation. She was loved by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Anna leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Floyd E. Evans of the home; one grandson, Floyd Nevouis of Newark, New Jersey; one brother, Harmon L. Evans of Columbia; an adopted sister, Susan Thompson of Sumter; a sister-in-law; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home of her nieces and nephew, 1421 Illery Road, Sumter.
Homegoing services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at St. James Holiness Church, 3655 Myrtle Beach Highway / U.S. 378, Sumter, with Pastor Alfreda Johnson officiating.
The remains will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.
The funeral procession will leave at 1:20 p.m. from the home.
Burial will be at St. James Holiness Churchyard Cemetery.
