Annie Lee Porter Richardson, 68, of Gibson, North Carolina, was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rosezell Porter. She was born July 21, 1949, in Sumter. She answered her call to eternal rest Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017, at the Scottish Pines Rehab and Nursing Facility, Laurinburg, North Carolina.
Annie Lee received her education in the public schools of Sumter County. She also attended Sumter Area Technical College and majored in nursing.
Annie Lee worked for Sumter School District 17 and later relocated to Gibson, North Carolina, to be near her grandchildren.
Annie Lee was a member of New Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church of Sumter.
Annie Lee leaves to cherish her precious memories: two daughters, Theresa Presley of Sumter, and Melissa (Jermell) Adams of Laurel Hill, North Carolina; one sister, Joan (Johnnie) Gore of Sumter; foster sister, Latoya Rush of Eastover; foster brothers, Marcus Garrick of Sumter, and Deidrick Garrick of Eastover; five grandchildren, Kendall Richardson (Victoria) of Sumter, Jodisha Sumpter, Joetta Sumpter, George Rembert and Jolissa Adams of Laurel Hill, North Carolina; and two great-grandchildren, Jordan Sumpter of Laurel Hill, North Carolina, and Karsen Richardson of Sumter; three aunts, Nancy Porter of Sumter, Lillie Bell Miles and Catherine Jackson of Eastover; two uncles, Purnell (Rosa) Gibson of Sumter, and Lewis Gibson of Eastover; one sister-in-law, Rosa Lee Porter of Sumter; two brothers-in-law, Johnnie Gore and Nathan Carter of Sumter; two special friends, Paige Wright of Columbia and Dorothy (Dot) Johnson of Sumter; and a host of nieces, a nephew, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, James Porter and Johnnie Porter, and two sisters, Maryann Singleton and Rosetta Carter.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the New Fellowship Baptist Church, the Rev. Dale Edwards, Pastor, the Rev. Albertus Smiling, Eulogist, and the Rev. Frank E. Williams, Jr. Presiding. Interment will follow in the Walker Cemetery, Sumter. The funeral procession will leave the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie and Joan Gore, 101 Vining St., Sumter.
The family will be receiving family and friends at the home of her daughter, Theresa Presley, 1041 Golfcrest Road, Sumter, and her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gore, 101 Vining St., Sumter.
These services have been entrusted to the management and staff of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter.
