The man suspected in last weekend’s shooting death at a Sumter auto repair shop was extradited back to Sumter County Friday to face murder charges.

A Sumter County Sheriff’s Office deputy and a U.S. Marshal brought Demetrius Alexander Brown, 38, to the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center just before 6 p.m. Friday from Jacksonville, Florida, where he was apprehended late Wednesday night.

Brown had been on the run since Saturday, when he is accused of shooting 34-year-old Sharmine Pack to death at Auto Doctors on South Pike Road East.

Brown fled the scene and was spotted northeast of Atlanta, Georgia, in Jackson County on Monday before being caught in Florida.

Brown, a Moorish sovereign citizen who claims to not be bound by this country’s laws and has been known to violently clash with law enforcement in Sumter and Lee counties, was silent as he was processed at the jail Friday.

He cooperated as deputies un-shackled him and took off a Taser belt he wore while he was in the vehicle from Florida to Sumter.

A first appearance hearing is set for Saturday morning.
