Chestnut Oaks, Alice Drive football teams win big


DALZELL - Lawrence Burroughs rushed for 76 yards, two touchdowns and two 2-point conversions to help lead the Chestnut Oaks Middle School football team to a 40-6 victory over Hllcrest on Tuesday at Donald L. Crolley Memorial Stadium.

Markel Frierson had three receptions for 62 yards to go along with two touchdown tosses from Zayveon Wells for the Falcons. Wells also ran for 80 yards and two scores and had one interception. Ahmari Samuels caught a 33-yard pass from Kameron Rodriguez to set up a score.

Defensively, COMS was led by Monteque Rheames and Michael Rembert.

The Falcons, now 2-2 on the year, will take on undefeated Alice Drive on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Sumter Memorial Stadium.

Alice Drive 48

Ebenezer 8

Four different players rushed for touchdowns as Alice Drive earned a 48-8 victory over Ebenezer on Tuesday at the Tigers' field.

Dreshaun Wright, Tayvionne Ingram, Joseph Durant and Travis Rembert all scored TDs for the Hawks. Alec Rapier, Ingram, Marquis Lane-Owens, and Ali Brunson each added 2-point conversions while Terrion Burgess added a pair of 2-point conversions.

Defensively, Charlie Noonan scored on a 30-yard fumble recovery and Ian Weber returned an interception 50 yards for a score to lead ADMS. Keon Jett led the team with six tackles while Dae'Breaun Gooden and Davin Jackson added five and four tackles, respectively.

The Hawks, who improved to 5-0 on the year, return to action on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Sumter Memorial Stadium against Chestnut Oaks.

MANNING - Wilson Hall earned a 3-0 victory over Laurence Manning Academy on Tuesday at Bubba Davis Gymnasium.

Game scores were 25-7, 25-4 and 26-24 in favor of the Lady Barons.

For LMA, Kayla Acord had one kill, one dig and three service points while Sarah Faye Turner had three blocks. Trinity Harrington had six kills, one dig, three points and two aces while Madelyn Richburg finished with three kills and five points.

Madisyn Hudson had two assists for the Lady 'Cats and Bailey Moore had two kills and one point. Perry Lee Love Hicks finished with 11 assists and two points.

LMA, now 0-11 on the year, travels to Orangeburg Prep today.

SUMMERTON - Clarendon Hall earned a 3-1 region victory over Jefferson Davis Academy on Tuesday at the CH gymnasium.

Game scores were 25-17, 15-25, 25-23 and 25-8 in favor of the Lady Saints, who improved to 7-6 overall.

CH was led by Ava English with 23 service points and four aces. Madison Kidd added 19 points and three aces while Sara James finished with 16 points.

The Lady Saints will host St. John's Christian today.

Sumter High fell to West Florence 5-1 on Tuesday at the SHS courts.

Game scores were 14-25, 25-21 and 25-20 in favor of the Lady Swampcats.

Toni Lewis had one service point and Kinsey Bjork had four service points for LMA. Abby Anderson had seven assists, three points and two aces while Kelsie Austin had five assists, 11 points and seven aces.

Callie Thompson had three kills, 11 points and six aces while Brooke Thompson finished with nine kills, six points and two aces.

The Lady 'Cats improved to 2-9 and will travel to Orangeburg Prep today.

SUMMERTON - Clarendon Hall improved to 13-0 overall with a 2-0 victory over Jefferson Davis Academy on Tuesday at the CH gymnasium by scores 25-5 and 25-12.

The Lady Saints were led by Aubrey Edwards with 18 service points and five aces and Amberly Way with 16 points and seven aces.

CH will host St. John's Christian today.
