Christine Murray Colvin, 86, widow of Charles A. Colvin, died on Monday, May 7, 2018, at Covenant Place.

Born on Dec. 28, 1931, in Wilson County, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late John W. and Hattie Tedder Murray. She was an active member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, Mizpah No. 36 in Charlotte, North Carolina. After graduating from Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, she taught elementary school for 36 years combined in Palatka, Florida, Wilson, Raleigh and Monroe, North Carolina. She always placed family first and truly loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she kept a special place in her heart for animals.

Survivors include her daughters, Marilyn Taylor Adams of Daytona Beach Shores, Florida, and Lisa Taylor Richey (Dave) of Wake Forest, North Carolina; granddaughters, Heather Adams Corley (Robert) and Kristen Adams Crane (David); four great-grandchildren; and a twin sister, Irene Murray Fleming of Raleigh.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Beulah M. Leggette; and two brothers, Dr. L.L. Murray and Carl Murray.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Wilson.
