Parenting conference will be on March 3

Clarendon School District 2 and Clarendon County Adult Education invite parents and caregivers to the Parenting and Family Leadership Conference, Every Day Coaches, from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 3, at F.E. Dubose Career Center, 3351 Sumter Highway, Manning.

Dr. Kimberly P. Johnson, children's author, storyteller and motivational speaker, will be the keynote speaker. Choose from a variety of workshops from local professionals as they address the joys and challenges of raising successful adults in the current culture.

There will be prizes, and breakfast will be provided.

Scholarship Boot Camp will be held Saturday

Scholarship Boot Camp, sponsored by Manning High School JAG, MHS Guidance Department and Central Carolina Technical College, will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday at Manning High School, Lecture Hall.

The camp will include scholarship assistance, college essay assistance, tools on how to complete the application process and onsite assistance with a financial aid counselor from CCTC.

Reception will be held at gallery Saturday

An artists' reception for the current show at Lake Marion Artisans Gallery in Summerton will be held Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m.

Everyone is welcome to the event that celebrates those who have work included in Generations - An Exhibit of Local African-American Artists of All Ages.

There will be fiber arts by seniors in the Summerton Quilters group, fine art from Scott's Branch High School students and work from Tarleton Blackwell displayed at the show. Blackwell teaches at Scott's Branch and is a well-known artist in the Summerton area.

The exhibit runs through Feb. 28, and the gallery is at 108 Main St., Summerton.
