School district offers free Child Find screenings

SUMMERTON - Clarendon School District 1 Office of Special Services will conduct free vision, hearing, speech and developmental screenings as part of a Child Find effort to identify students ages 3-5 who may need special education services and are not enrolled in public schools.

Screenings will be held at Summerton Early Childhood Center, 8 South St., Summerton, from 9 a.m. to noon on the second Tuesday of each month: Sept. 11, Oct. 9, Nov. 13 and Dec. 11, and Jan. 8, Feb. 12, March 12, April 9 and May 14 in 2019.

Library will be closed for Labor Day holiday

Chamber of Commerce Awards Dinner is Sept. 6

MANNING - The Clarendon County Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual awards dinner at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 6 at The Matrix Center, 4648 Kingstree Highway. Entertainment for the dinner will be presented by comedian Mike Goodwin. Tickets are $40 per person and can be purchased at the Chamber office, 19 N. Brooks St.

Miss Duckfest Pageant deadline is coming up

SUMMERTON - The third-annual Duckfest Festival will host its first pageant at 2 p.m. Sept. 8 at Summerton Cultural Arts Center, 8 N. Church St. The deadline for submitting applications is 8 p.m. Aug. 31. The entry fee for the event is $80 and will include 12 age divisions, including two divisions for boys and 10 divisions for girls. Girls should wear pageant dresses while the young men should be decked out in their best duck-hunting attire.

Deercreek at Wyboo hosts Business After Hours

MANNING - Deercreek at Wyboo will host Clarendon County Chamber of Commerce's September Business After Hours from 5:30 to 7:30 on Sept. 13 at Deercreek Clubhouse, 1048 Deercreek Drive.

Coach Gibson Alumni Game will be held on Sept. 29

MANNING - The Coach Premuel Gibson Alumni Scholarship Game will be held Sept. 29 at Manning High School. The first game will tip off at 1:30 p.m. with the second game beginning at 3 p.m. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students.

Taste of Clarendon tickets are on sale now

MANNING - Mark your calendars now for the Taste of Clarendon, which will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 4 at the National Guard Armory, 2883 Raccoon Road. For tickets, contact the Clarendon County Chamber of Commerce at (803) 435-4405.

College will host job fair, career workshop

MANNING - Central Carolina Technical College is hosting a Job Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 13 at the F.E. DuBose Career campus, 3351 Sumter Highway.

This is a great opportunity to meet with notable companies that make a significant impact on the Clarendon County workforce and many of South Carolina's largest employers. Recruiters from Central Carolina Technical College will also be available.
