New Start in the Park is each Sunday this month
MANNING - New Start Community Church of the Nazarene, 4686 J.W. Rhames Road in Manning, is sponsoring New Start in the Park at 6 p.m. each Sunday in July. This Sunday, New Start in the Park will be held at Rex Josey Park, and the theme of the evening will be "Tools and Supplies." On July 22, New Start in the Park will be held at Gibbons Street Park with a theme of "Maintenance." On July 29, the event will be held at the church with a "Finale" theme. At each event, music will be provided by C.B. Hammer and Naily G. with puppets, Popsicles, games and crafts. The finale will also include photo certificates, a bounce house and an ice cream party.
Society Hill AME Church Revival is next week
MANNING - Society Hill AME Church, 1030 Morello Road in Manning, is hosting a revival at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. The guest revivalist is Dr. Alice Ridgill. The host pastor is the Rev. Dr. Mary Rhodes.
Fall sports registration begins Monday
MANNING - Clarendon County Recreation Department is offering fall sports registration Monday through Aug. 20. CCRD is offering tackle football for ages 7-9 and 10-12; flag football for ages 4-7; soccer for ages 5-6, 7-10 and 11-14; girls' volleyball for ages 5-8 and 9-12; and cheerleading for ages 7-9 and 10-12.

Community invited to Back-to-School Blast
MANNING - Destiny Church, 12135 S.C. 260 in Manning, is hosting a Back-to-School Blast from 3 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, at the church. The free event will feature games, prizes, backpack giveaway, water slides, school supplies, hot dogs, George's Funnel Cakes and snow cones.
VVA Annual LZ 960 Benefit Run
MANNING - The Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 960, in Manning is hosting a benefit run beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4, at Lakevue Landing. The check-in will be held at 4 p.m. at Lakevue. The entry fee is $10 for all participants with cash prizes for the top three finishers. There will be six stops on the route, including Meare's Marine (formerly J & J Marina), Taw Caw Campground and Marina, Goat Island Bait & Tackle-Restaurant & Lounge, Polly's Landing Marina, Randolph's Landing and Lakevue Landing. Entry forms are available from any chapter member, any of the stops or by calling (803) 460-8551 or (803) 478-4300. Entry forms may be obtained after 9 a.m. the day of the event at Lakevue. Entry forms must have all six stamps to be eligible for the cash prizes. Participants without all six stamps will be eligible for door prizes and supper.
National Night Out set for Aug. 7 at park
MANNING - Clarendon County law enforcement agencies are hosting National Night Out from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 7, at J.C. Britton Park, 3057 Raccoon Road. The countywide event focuses on "promoting neighborhood spirit and police-community partnership" as well as "Making Our Community Safe." Attendees can enjoy food, drinks, prizes and music. In case of inclement weather, the event will move into the Manning High School gymnasium, 1155 Paxville Highway.
