Clarendon County Coroner's Office is working to identify a man who died in a wreck on Saturday night that resulted in a vehicle fire.

The coroner's office received dental records of the deceased on Monday morning and may have a name by Tuesday, Coroner Hayes Samuels said.

An autopsy for the man — a Summerton resident — has been scheduled for Tuesday morning.

According to Lance Cpl. Matt Southern with S.C. Highway Patrol, the man's vehicle caught fire after the 1998 Ford Explorer went off the right side of Moses Dingle Road near Olin Road and struck a tree at about 11:45 p.m. He was traveling eastbound toward S.C. 260.

The man became entrapped in the vehicle after the crash.

It is unknown if he was wearing a seat belt.

The wreck is still under investigation by S.C. Highway Patrol.
