SUMTER ART ASSOCIATION

The Sumter Art Association met Oct. 16 in the parish hall of the Church of the Holy Comforter. President Patti Sosnowski welcomed members, and Rosemary Drakeford offered a devotional based on using verses from Psalm 122 as inspiration for prayer.

Recording secretary Andrena Ray read aloud the minutes from Sept. 18. There were no additions or corrections, and the September minutes were approved as read. Treasurer Susan Brabham reported the current balance and reminded members to pay dues. Corresponding secretary Vicki Goodwin reported notes sent out to members.

Attendance chairman Ginger Barwick reported that 58 members were present. There were no guests. Linda Hogon reported numerous cultural events taking place during the fall season in Sumter and the surrounding area. Yearbook chairman Carla Young asked that members continue to keep her informed of any changes in their contact information throughout the year.

Kipper Ackerman introduced Erica Goza, a floral designer. Erica presented a delightful program she called " Feel Good Flowers" illustrated by large-screen projections of beautiful color photographs. She described her work with planting, growing and arranging flowers and ornamental plants and said that she also cultivates vegetables in her large garden in Mayesville.

President Sosnowski thanked Erica for her program and reminded members that there will be no meeting in November. She then adjourned the meeting and invited everyone to the refreshment table, thanking the hostess committee for their hospitality. Chairwoman was Mary Reed, with Betsy Lynch serving as co-chairwoman. Members of their committee were Ackerman, Jeanne Anne Baldwin, Frances Betchman, Ann Booth, Anna Bynum, Allene Compton, Linda Fraley, Betsy Humphries, Dottie Lyles and Marian Shaw. The centerpiece was provided by Ackerman.
