COMILLA J. MARTIN

Comilla "Paul" Jenkins Martin, 80, departed this life and entered into eternal rest on Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018, at Palmetto Health Richland, Columbia.

Born on Dec. 26, 1937, in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Johnnie Boone Sr. and Ronea Jenkins. Comilla received her formal education in the public schools of Sumter County. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Olive AME Church, where she held many leadership roles in addition to her services on the usher board, jubilee choir and Women's Missionary Society (Burrows Unit). She was also a member of the Twelve Tribes of Israel, Lodge 11.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband of 49 years, Raymond Martin; their three children, Gloria J. Martin of Fairburn, Georgia, Ralph O. Martin (Andrea) of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, and Patricia A. Martin of Dalzell; a granddaughter reared in the home, Shontel Wright (Thomas) of Atlanta; four stepchildren, Diane Smith, Dorthey Mae McCray, Wanda Harrison and Richard Wilson; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; eight sisters, Alene Martin, Ammie Anderson, Julia Nelson of Sumter, Irene Jenkins of Fairview, Illinois, Johnnie Mae Swann of Norfolk, Virginia, Catharine Boone of Darlington, and Alene McCullough and Hattie Mae McCullough, both of Lamar; one special sister, Mary Abram of Alexandria, Virginia; four brothers, Ivie Jenkins of Newark, New Jersey, Edward (Margaret) Jenkins of Brooklyn, New York, Johnnie Boone Jr. of Sumter and Henry (Dorothy) Boone of Camden Wyoming, Delaware; one daughter-in-law; four sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 790 Westbury Mill Road, Sumter.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Mt. Olive AME Church, 2738 S.C. 441, Sumter, with the Rev. Dr. Friendly J. Gadson, pastor, eulogist.

The remains will be placed in the church at 10 a.m.

The funeral procession will leave at 10:20 a.m. from the home.

Burial will be at Mt. Olive Memorial Garden.
