Cooper's double-double leads EC to 60-47 win over Manning

MANNING – Talaysia Cooper had a double-double of 26 points and 15 rebounds to lead East Clarendon to a 60-47 varsity girls basketball victory over Manning on Tuesday at Thames Arena.

Valencia Garris added 10 points for the Lady Wolverines. Kaitlin Timmons added nine.

Measha Jones led MHS with 21 points. April Williams added nine.

BISHOPVILLE – Lakewood High School defeated Lee Central 52-25 on Tuesday at the LC gymnasium in the season opener for both teams.

Lashala Harvin led the Lady Gators with 15 points. Rahteisha Burgess added 10 points and five steals, while Valencia Croom had nine points, nine rebounds and three steals and Ki’Ari Cain had eight points and six rebounds.

Kendra Lesane and Robinine Myers led the Lady Stallions with eight points apiece.

Heathwood Hall 34

COLUMBIA – Wilson Hall remained undefeated with a 55-34 victory over Heathwood Hall on Tuesday at the HH gymnasium.

The 3-0 Lady Barons were led by Natalie Jackson with 14 points. Courtney Clark had 11 and Maddie Elmore had 10.

Morgan Goodwin led the 0-1 Lady Highlanders with 15.

HOPKINS – Crestwood High School defeated Lower Richland 47-28 on Tuesday at the Diamond Mine in its first game under new head coach Larry Crosby.

Jah’che Whitfield led the Lady Knights with 17 points. Destinee Jamison had 16.

SUMMERVILLE – Laurence Manning Academy fell to 0-2 with a 69-30 loss to Pinewood Prep on Tuesday at the PP gymnasium.

Brooke Bennett led LMA with 11 points. Olivia Coker had 10 and Abbie Patrick had nine.

COLUMBIA – Wilson Hall improved to 3-0 with a 42-22 victory over Heathwood Hall on Tuesday at the HH gymnasium.

Andi Grae Wingate led the Lady Barons with 10 points. Abbie Beatson had eight points and Becca Cromer had six.

Pinewood Prep 20

SUMMERVILLE – Laurence Manning Academy evened its record at 1-1 with a 33-20 victory over Pinewood Prep on Tuesday at the PP gymnasium.

Breanna Boykin led LMA, which trailed 7-2 after one quarter, with nine points. Peyton Davis had six and Bryce Erickson had five.

On Monday in Manning, LMA lost to Thomas Sumter Academy 27-24. Carrie Rickenbaker led the Lady Swampcats with eight points.
